SOLD - 1948 Johnny Lujack #13 ROOKIE CARD

$0.00

SGC 2: #6631195 - Good

What a great collectible ROOKIE card!

Though not a household name in THIS era, Johnny Lujack was indeed a highly accomplished football player. He played primarily as a quarterback and achieved significant success during his career, both at the college level and in the NFL. He first gained prominence as the starting quarterback for the University of Notre Dame from 1943 to 1947. He led the Fighting Irish to an undefeated season and a national championship in 1947, earning him the Heisman Trophy. Lujack's exceptional passing and running abilities, combined with his leadership on the field, made him one of the most respected players of his era. After his college career, Lujack was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 1948 NFL Draft. He played for the Bears from 1948 to 1951, primarily as a quarterback. During his time in the NFL, he displayed his skills as a versatile player, contributing both as a passer and a runner. He was named an All-Pro in 1949 and helped the Bears win the NFL Championship in 1948. It's worth noting that Lujack played in an era when statistics were not as heavily emphasized as they are today, and the passing game was not as prevalent. Nonetheless, his achievements, accolades, and impact on the field make him a notable figure in football history and a Hall of Famer.
