ROOKIE CARD with great color! One of the ‘72 Dolphins superstars… and a nice example of “Buy the Card, Not the Grade.”

Dick Anderson played safety for the Miami Dolphins from 1968 to 1975 and wasan integral part of the notorious "No-Name Defense” of the early ‘70s. Anderson's defensive skills and leadership contributed to the team's success, helping the Dolphins become one of the most dominant teams of the era. He played a vital role in the Dolphins' back-to-back Super Bowl victories in the 1972 and 1973 seasons. In Super Bowl VII, he intercepted a pass thrown by Washington Redskins' quarterback Billy Kilmer and returned it for a 62-yard touchdown, sealing the Dolphins' perfect 17-0 season. Anderson's touchdown remains the only defensive touchdown in Super Bowl history for the Miami Dolphins. Throughout his career, he showcased exceptional ball-hawking skills. He had a knack for creating turnovers and interceptions, earning him a reputation as one of the best safeties of his time. He was named the Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1973, highlighting his impact on the field which included a record 4 interceptions in 1 game against the Steelers. He also received three Pro Bowl selections during his career in 1972, 1973, and 1974.
