Known for his explosive speed, agility, and ability to make defenders miss, Gale Sayers possess incredible athleticism and versatility, playing as a dominant running back, prolific kick returner and capable receiver out of the backfield. As a rookie in ’65, he led the league in rushing and set a record for most TDs in a season by a rookie with 22 (14 rushing, 6 receiving, and 2 punt returns). Despite a relatively short career due to injuries, Sayers left a lasting legacy as one of the most talented and exciting players of his era and entered the NFL Hall of Fame in 1977 at age 34 (youngest player ever).
