Dick Butkus had an exceptional early career with the Chicago Bears, establishing himself as one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history. Butkus quickly gained a reputation as a fierce and intimidating defender. From 1965 to 1971, Butkus was selected as a First-Team All-Pro for seven consecutive seasons. Butkus was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first eight seasons in the NFL, from 1965 to 1972. His selection to the Pro Bowl reflected his status as one of the premier linebackers in the game. He had exceptional football instincts and was known for his ability to diagnose plays quickly. He possessed outstanding awareness and had a knack for disrupting opposing offenses with his tackles, pass coverage, and ability to force turnovers.
